In our family we love good Italian food!

If you have never stayed in our region or if you do not know where to go for Italian food, we are happy to give you our suggestions.

In all sincerity and total transparency, it is only fair that you should know that recommending a good restaurant in Italy and in our region is not easy: tastes and expectations about food are always extremely personal, restaurant management can change over time, and seasonal ‘turnovers’ of staff, as in many tourist activities, can be frequent.

We trust that you will not hold us responsible if you are dissatisfied with an experience; we guarantee that if a guest reports unpleasant and unfair incidents that have occurred to them in one of our suggested restaurants, we will remove it from our preferences and you will not find it listed below.

Breakfast

Let’s start with the most important meal to get the day off to a good start.

The ideal way to get your day off to a good start is with a delicious, hearty breakfast that you can prepare in the comfort of your own home and enjoy in total privacy in your accommodation.

If you prefer a breakfast away from home, we recommend two fantastic options that stand out for their excellence:

  1. “Flambè al Lago“- Domaso: only a 5′ walk away / excellent quality / recommended in fine weather for the tables outside.
  2. “7.2 Bistrot“- Gravedona: 30′ walk or 5′ drive / offers excellent quality pastries.

Lunch and dinner

In the NORTH direction

  1. “Lario pizzeria” – Gera Lario : car 10′ or bike 20′ / very good PIZZA / very good quality Italian cuisine / on the main street.
  2. “Pizzeria Spluga” – Sorico: car 10′ or bike 20′ / very good PIZZA / excellent quality Italian cuisine / on the main road.
  3. “Ristorante La Trela” – Verceia: car 20′ / very good quality Italian cuisine, very good wine selection / at the foot of the mountain.
  4. “Agriturismo El Mercante” – Colico: car 20′ / Valtellina cuisine / recommended for families and groups of friends.

Towards the SOUTH

  1. “Osteria del Bumbardin“- Dongo: car 10′ or bike 20′ / excellent Italian and regional cuisine / in the historic village of Dongo.
  2. “Ristorante La Baia“- Cremia: car 15′ or bike 45′ / excellent Italian cuisine / exceptional location with lakefront terrace.
    When you book:
    – ask for a table outside if you like.
    – Indicate that you are a guest of Villa Moretta and take advantage of the free return taxi service.
  3. “Trattoria Sant’Anna” – Livo : car 15′ or bike 30′ / good traditional local cuisine / characteristic place in a typical mountain hamlet.
  4. “Crotto Isidoro” – Stazzona: car 15′ or bike 30′ / good traditional local cuisine / rustic place in the mountains.

For brevity’s sake, this list does not include other Italian cuisine restaurants in the area that are probably equally worthy.

Since we have no direct experience with international cuisine, we do not feel it is fair to suggest any Sushi, Mexican, Turkish, etc. restaurants.

We advise you to explore online the various options for eating in the area, read reviews, find out how to get there and check opening days and times.

We always recommend booking, especially in high season.
